Founder: James Wu Chen AIA, NCARB

Mr. James Wu Chen started his architectural practice 30 years ago and was the founder of JWC Architect PLLC since 2000.

He is an active licensed architect in the State of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California. His expertise and vast range of experience in Zoning Resolutions, codes requirements, construction means and method etc. has allowed him to play a leading role in various projects such as residential, hotel, office, retail, as well as mixed-use. Mr. Chen has been working with clients closely from beginning to end focusing on economic and effective solutions.

He is currently a member of AIA , CIMA, APA and he is also certified LEED AP by USGBC, as well as a certificate holder of NCARB. He received his Master Degree in Architecture from Tongji University in Shanghai China and was enrolled in a master degree program in Urban Design at Pratt Institute New York.

Founder: Chris Cheng Gu, Ph.D. P.E.

Mr. Chris Cheng Gu is a seasoned structural engineer with hands-on diversified expertise. He started his professional engineering career in the United States in 1997 with Weidlinger Associates Inc (acquired by Thornton Tomasetti). During his 17-year tenure with WAI as project engineer, he was actively involved in the design and construction of some high profile states/national award winning projects, such as the Bank of China Beijing Headquarters with Pei Partnership, Rockefeller University Pedestrian Bridge and Plaza with Studio Joseph, Cheju World Cup Stadium Korea, New Chancery Building Chinese Embassy in Washington DC with Pei Partnership, Smith College Campus Center with Weiss/Manfredi Architects, The Chatwal (Lambs Club) Hotel renovation, Pier 3 Fabric Canopy Structure in San Juan, PR, Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center with Weiss/Manfredi Architects, Jacob Javits Convention Center Renovation with FOXFOWLE, World War II Museum in New Orleans with Voorsanger Architects.

Since joining JWC AE, he has been working side by side with architects on all the projects, such as 45-16 83rd Street Elmhurst Plaza in Queens and 741 61st street in Brooklyn, ensuring design quality, schedule and client’s needs are met.

He is an active licensed PE in the State of New York and Connecticut. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Mechanics from China Academy of Building Research in Beijing, and M.S. in Structural Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in 1987.

Senior Interior Designer: Julija Krajceva

Julija (Julia) is an award winning designer and project manager. An accomplished FIT graduate of Interior Design, Julija’s experience is as diverse as her approach to making clients’ dreams into realities. Her experience ranges from Residential and Commercial to Hospitality.

Some of her most notable works include international designs like the IOC (International Olympic Committee) Hospitality Venue, Family Hotel Lobby and IOC member and hospitality lounges at the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. She also has prize-winning work locally, such as the North and South Building of J&J consumer products designs.

Julija’s multi-faceted approach to design creates an experience unique to every visitor. Her most valuable asset is the ability to meet practical expectations without compromising on stunning visuals and creativity.
